    • Tasting Notes Winey. jammy and sweet. Complex tartaric and malic acidity of grapes, berries, red plum, with undertones of chocolate and florals.

    • Producer - Ercilei José De Oliveira

    • Farm - Sitio Pedro Varinhas

    • Region - Manhuaçu, Minas Gerais

    • Varietal - Arara variety

    • Process - Honey

    • Tasting Notes: Complex, exquisite and delicate. Floral and green tea upfront, followed by apricot and brown sugar.

About Tùng Nguyen

Tung Nguyen (@nguyentung) is a coffee professional who wears many hats in the coffee world. In 2021, he founded Citric meets Malic (@citricmeetsmalic) in Hanoi, originally as a café concept, which has since evolved into his consulting brand.

His work mainly revolves around green coffee buying. He was the winning bidder for several Cup of Excellence auction lots. But it did not end here, through these coffees he got to connected to the farmers, establishing long term relationship with them. On the other hand, he also work closely with some of the best arabica farmers from his home country Vietnam, provide advices on cup quality, farm management and market strategy for them. Some of the best lots coming out from Vietnam in the past few years were secured by him and Citric meets Malic.

He is a believer in a sustainable coffee industry, wanting to leave the industry better than when he enter, so on the consuming side of the industry, he also  occasionally hosts talk shows followed by cuppings on topics like coffee genetics, botany and economics. Some of his partners and clients include the Specialty Coffee Association, Terraform Coffee, Gout & Co, Elio Coffee, 2050 Coffee by Kurasu, Ome by Spacebar Coffee, Bosgaurus Coffee Roasters, and Roast Coffee Copenhagen. He is also a featured journalist at Sprudge, a most read publication about coffee in the world, where he contributes a diverse portfolio of coffee-related articles and regularly covers World of Coffee events on behalf of the publication.

Tung holds a Master’s Degree in Coffee Economics and Science — Ernesto Illy, from the University of Udine and illycaffè, the first Vietnamese to have ever attended the program. What he loves most is working with farmers, always striving toward a more inclusive and sustainable future for them, and bridging the gap between producer and consumer.
